Oh Be Careful...
Some of us grew up with the kid’s song:
Oh, be careful, little feet where you go,
Oh, be careful, little feet where you go.
There’s a Father up above looking down in tender love,
Oh, be careful, little feet where you go.
We are taught to pray, “…lead us not into temptation…” (Mat 6:13). Being careful about where we go is vital spiritual advice for kids AND adults.
The word Christian means follower of Christ. We are mindful about what we do and where we go. We follow, which means we go where Christ goes, where He leads us – and we don’t go where He doesn’t go.
"Ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established. Do not turn to the right or the left; remove your foot from evil." Proverbs 4:26-27
"The simple believes every word, But the prudent considers well his steps." Proverbs 14:15
"O LORD, I know the way of man is not in himself; It is not in man who walks to direct his own steps." Jer 10:23
There are places we must choose not to go (Pro 7:25). They are the way of temptation and sin. There are places we must choose to walk in (Pro 2:20; Psa 25:4-5). They are the way of truth, righteousness, worship, goodness, kindness, and love.
We are challenged to, “Consider your ways!” (Haggai 1:5) and, “Examine yourselves…” (2 Cor 13:5). Let God direct our ways, His word being a lamp to our feet (Psa 119:105). We need to be careful where we go because there a Father up above looking down in tender love, so be careful, little feet where you go! dd
