What Happens to Our Sins?
“I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions…” Isaiah 43:25
“I have blotted out, like a thick cloud, your transgressions…” Isaiah 44:22
“As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.” Psalm 103:12
“…You will cast all our sins Into the depths of the sea” Micah 7:19
God’s grace and forgiveness is amazing. In ancient times they didn’t have erasers like we have today, but they could “blot out” writing to change it (either scraping over it to remove it or literally blacking it out). It would literally be gone – erased, and that’s what God is saying about His forgiveness of our sin!
Here’s the benefit of God erasing our sins:
“…I will not remember your sins” Isaiah 43:25
“For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more” Hebrews 8:12
“…Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more” Hebrews 10:17
God’s forgiveness means that our sins, whatever they are, are gone and He won’t bring them back up to us or hold us accountable for them. We can truly be forgiven and can be guilt free! So, that’s the offer…
“Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.” – Acts 3:19
